Jason is a writer/director living in Brooklyn with his wife, two kids and cat named Miles Davis. While studying German media theory at Princeton, he started making films. His sophomore feature documentary, Soul Patrol, debuts at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in U.S. Documentary Competition. His directorial debut As We Speak (Paramount+, Sundance 2024), is an Emmy-nominated documentary about the growing use of rap lyrics as evidence in the U.S. criminal justice system.
A multi-hyphenate documentarian, he Executive Produced the Peabody Award winning Daughters (Netflix), and has edited four features including the Emmy-nominated jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy (Netflix), A Kid from Coney Island (Netflix) about the life of Stephon Marbury and Down a Dark Stairwell (Criterion Channel) about the NYPD murder of Akai Gurley. He was named to DOC NYC’s “40 Under 40” list in 2024. In 2025, he was awarded the prestigious Concordia Fellowship, the Film Independent Amplifier Fellowship is a Library of Congress Lavine/Ken Burns Prize for Film Finalist.
